Job summary

Ervin Cable Construction, LLC is seeking a Telecom Aerial Foreman to lead installation, maintenance, and repair of aerial telecom systems at our Bessemer, AL location. You will serve as the on-site expert, guiding less experienced crew members and ensuring safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities include coordinating the installation of fiber/telecom cables and support structures, safely operating bucket trucks and other equipment, and traveling for storm response on short

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• Authorized to work in the United States for this company.
• High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.
• Valid state driver’s license with clean record.
• Able to pass a DOT medical exam for a valid medical card.
• At least 3 years of related work experience.
• Pole climber certification or willingness to obtain one.
• CDL Class A preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee installation, maintenance, and repair of aerial telecom systems per codes and customer requirements.
• Safely operate equipment like bucket truck, digger derrick, and excavators.
• Maintain safe work areas and ensure traffic flows are smooth on site.
• Work at heights using climbing hooks and ladders.
• Use hand and power tools safely (wrenches, drills, saws).
• Provide guidance and support to crew members as needed.
• Travel readiness for storm response on short notice.
• Complete daily work orders and crew checks to document productivity and safety.

What you’ll do

• Ensure successful installation of fiber/telecom cables, materials, or support structures according to relevant codes, regulations, and customer requirements.
• Safely use equipment like bucket truck, digger derrick, excavators
• Ensure work areas are safe and that traffic flows smoothly while on the job
• Safely work at heights using climbing hooks and ladders
• Safely use hand tools and power tools like wrenches, drills, and saws
• Provide guidance and support to others as needed
• Be ready to travel for storm response on short notice
• Complete daily work orders and crew checks to document productivity and safety compliance
• Other duties as assigned

What you’ll need

• To be 18 years of age or older
• Authorization to work in the United States for this company
• High School Diploma, GED equivalent, or relevant work experience
• Valid state driver's license (cannot be Provisional), including an acceptable driving record
• Must be able to pass a DOT physical exam, resulting in a valid medical card
• At least 3 years of related work experience
• To be a certified pole climber or be willing to become certified
• CDL Class “A” driver license is preferred

Physical abilities & exposures

• Routinely : work with arms above shoulder level, at heights in confined spaces and alone in remote locations, operate vehicle and heavy machinery, use ladder, bend, stoop, stand, walk, climb stairs and lift objects greater than 55 pounds
• Occasionally : use keyboard and mouse
