Job summary

Stulz in Denton, TX is seeking a Foreman for Sheet Metal Fabrication. You will lead laser, punch, and press brake operations, oversee powder coat and welding teams, and ensure safety, quality, and on-time delivery.

You will coach lean practices such as 5S, nesting optimization, and process discipline; coordinate with maintenance; manage tooling changes; and foster cross-functional teamwork to drive continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Leadership experience in a sheet metal fabrication environment.
• Hands-on Amada (or comparable CNC) equipment operation.
• Experience with ISO-9001 requirements and processes.
• Experience with Lean Manufacturing.
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
• ERP software experience, SAP preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safety, quality, and on-time delivery of components from the sheet metal fabrication shop.
• Be a champion of safety by supporting plant safety training, driving safety processes—including machine guarding and lockout/tagout on Amada CNC equipment—and leading safety communication
• Hold teams accountable to processes, systems, and results across the laser, punch/brake, powder coat and welding work centers
• Actively coach and implement lean processes and tools, including 5S, waste elimination, and nesting optimization to reduce scrap
• Work with Supervisors and Team Leaders to prevent and/or resolve issues early, including machine downtime, tooling changeovers, and material shortages
• Ensure standardized work and process discipline are followed for machine setup, programming, and part inspection
• Suggest changes to equipment, tooling, and methods, and coordinate with maintenance and service technicians on preventive maintenance and repairs
• Create a climate where people are motivated to do their best to help the organization win
• Foster cross functional team approach at all levels.

Summary:

Lead and manage resources, tools, training, and direction for sheet metal fabrication employees operating Amada laser cutting, punch, and press brake equipment to be safe, effective and efficient. Oversee powder coat paint booth operations as well as sheet metal welding team.

• Previous leadership experience in a sheet metal fabrication environment
• Hands‑on experience operating Amada (or comparable CNC) equipment
• Experience with ISO‑9001 requirements and processes
• Experience with Lean Manufacturing
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
• Strong problem‑solving skills
• ERP Computer experience, SAP preferred

Education/Experience:

• HS Diploma or equivalent required. Trade School or College desirable
• Minimum of 5 years of related experience in a sheet metal fabrication environment

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

• Lean Sigma
• Amada equipment‑specific operator and safety training provided on the job; forklift certification a plus

Language Skills:

• Ability to follow written instructions, including Amada machine operating manuals and setup sheets
• Ability to speak effectively with employees
• Ability to read and interpret drawings, including but not limited to: sheet metal fabrication drawings, flat patterns, bend charts, nesting layouts, operations and maintenance instructions, safety guidelines, and procedure manuals
• Ability to write and develop routine reports and correspondence, including production and scrap reports

Mathematical Skills:

• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, decimals, and metric equivalents, including calculating bend allowances, material yield, and nesting efficiency for sheet metal parts

The work environment is a sheet metal fabrication setting in which the noise level in the work area is usually moderate to high near active laser cutting, turret punch, and press brake equipment, and temperature levels vary. Appropriate PPE is required, including safety glasses, hearing protection, and laser safety eyewear where applicable, along with adherence to machine guarding and lockout/tagout procedures around Amada CNC equipment.
