Job description

Overview:

Knowledge of established buried cable installation procedures and techniques. Be familiar with a wide range of tools and equipment, and able to read and understand work orders, safety rules, and operating instructions.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee crew operations and ensure safety procedures are followed
  • Operate various equipment, machinery, and tools for underground cable and fiber installation, including pedestal placement
  • Perform manual labor tasks such as digging holes and trenches, often in extreme weather conditions
  • Ensure accurate and timely submission of production reports as crew leader
  • Follow all safety procedures: wear hardhat, safety vest, safety glasses, gloves, approved footwear, and seat belt. Set up safety perimeter using signage, cones, safety barriers, and flag traffic
  • Read and understand work orders and operating instructions

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 1-3 years of construction experience, preferably in telecommunications
  • Knowledge of buried/underground cable installation procedures and techniques
  • Valid driver's license with CDL required
  • Ability to drive a company vehicle responsibly
  • Ability to meet deadlines under stress
  • Highly organized with multitasking skills
  • Ability to measure distances accurately using tapes or other devices
