Job Responsibilities:
- Lead highway striping crew to install thermoplastic, waterborne paint, epoxy, and other pavement marking materials.
- Assign work to laborers based on material and work requirements.
- Navigate to and from work sites.
- Coordinate work with Supervisor and communicate daily progress.
- Evaluate situations and suggest improvements to increase efficiency.
- Record daily job information, including labor hours, production, material usage, and equipment data.
- Ensure layout is performed according to specifications.
- Follow DOT and quality guidelines while maximizing production.
- Ensure DOT/private inspectors and officials are satisfied with the work.
- Verify quantities daily.
- Complete pre-trip and post-trip inspection forms properly.
- Maintain vehicles, ensuring they are clean, in working order, and properly loaded.
- Control traffic near and around work zones.
- Monitor safety standards and ensure crews have proper safety equipment.
- Educate and train laborers in proper marking layout and equipment use.
Qualifications:
- Self-starter with a strong work ethic.
- Experience managing crews in the paving industry.
- Stamina to meet demanding schedules, including long hours, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to pass background checks and drug testing.
- Mechanical aptitude and experience working with mechanics.
- Familiarity with technology, including smartphones and applications.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing schedules.
- Good interpersonal and written communication skills.
- CDL Class B with Air Brake (not required).
- ATSSA Certified Basic Flagger.
Physical Requirements:
- Regularly lift and move up to 50-100 pounds.
- Occasionally lift more than 100 pounds.
- Exposure to weather, machinery, traffic, fumes, and airborne particles.
- Work environment noise level is moderate to loud.
Availability:
- Monday – Friday, with some nights and weekends.
- Overtime availability.
- Travel when necessary.
