Job summary

Chain Electric Co Inc in Louisiana seeks a Foreman to lead a crew in construction, maintenance and operation of electrical systems, ensuring projects meet design, budget, schedule and safety requirements.

You will estimate resources with field leadership, supervise safety, manage equipment and materials, and train workers while coordinating with general foreman and project managers.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience working on and around energized high-voltage primary electric links (7.2kV minimum).
  • Ability to travel 100% of the time with short notice.
  • Must possess planning and organizational skills and be able to delegate work to schedule crews.
  • Strong mathematical ability to calculate figures and amounts.
  • Ability to read and understand technical information, manuals, policies, procedures, and schematics.
  • Must communicate effectively in English and lead a crew safely.
  • Dependability and trustworthiness are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and direction to crews to ensure safe, efficient, and quality operations.
  • Work with GF in estimating worker requirements, equipment and material, and develop look-ahead schedules.
  • Ensure crew follows schedule in construction and maintenance of customer projects.
  • Ensure safety, equipment, and sites meet specifications and timelines.
  • Secure tools and materials daily to protect assets.
  • Enforce safety policies and guidelines with the crew.
  • Assist in problem solving and utilize appropriate technology and equipment.
  • Train workers in construction methods and safety procedures.
  • Support General Foreman/Project Managers to meet company goals.
  • Recruit qualified applicants and assign classifications based on demonstrated skills.

Job Summary:

The Foreman of a crew is responsible for overseeing the construction, maintenance and operation of electrical systems, to ensure assigned projects are completed in accordance with design, budget, schedule and safety considerations.

Requirements
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Provideleadership and direction to crews to ensure safe, efficient, and qualityoperations.
  • Work with GF in estimatingworker requirements, equipment and material, and develop “look ahead”schedules.
  • Ensure crew follows GF’sschedule of activities in construction and maintenance of customerprojects.
  • Ensures work progress,equipment, and construction sites are safe, specifications are met, andwork is according to schedule.
  • Ensures company andcustomer tools and materials are secured daily, safeguarding company andcustomer assets.
  • Consistently aware ofsafety policies and guidelines and ensures the crew is adhering to same.
  • Seek GF’s assistanceon problem solving to ensure most effective and efficient technology,techniques and equipment are utilized.
  • Provide assistance toworkers engaged in construction or extraction activities, using hand toolsor other equipment.
  • Ensure requests forrepairs to equipment and machinery are timely to allow cost effectiverepairs, reduce work delays and ensure safe working equipment.
  • Assist GF in training workers in construction methods, operation of equipment, safety proceduresand best practices, and/or company policies.
  • Support GeneralForeman/ Project Managers to meet company goals and objectives.
  • Work through the GF torecruit qualified applicants and assign classifications according todemonstrated skills and abilities.
  • Suggest or initiatepersonnel actions, such as promotions, transfers, or hires.
  • Adhere to all CompanyEEO, affirmative action, safety, quality assurance programs.
  • Maintain positiverelationships with existing customers and cultivate professionalrelationships with potential customers.
Basic Qualifications
  • Minimumof 5 years’ experience working on and around energized high-voltage primary electric links (7.2kv minimum).
  • Abilityto travel 100% of the time and at a moment’s notice
  • Possess at the least a valid CDL-B license
  • Mustpossess planning/organizational skills and ability to delegate work in orderto schedule crew, assign duties, and ensure completion of all projectswithin required deadlines.
  • Mustpossess good mathematical skills in order to calculate figures andamounts.
  • Must be able to read and understandtechnical information, manuals, policies, procedures, work orders,blueprints, and diagrams.
  • Must be able to deal with emergencysituations, hazardous conditions, multiple priorities, frequentinterruptions, and time constraints.
  • Must possess leadership skills toprovide guidance and training to assigned personnel in a safe effectiveand positive manner.
  • Must be able to understand and usethe English language, both oral and written, to communicate information,instructions, and ideas to other personnel.
  • Must be dependable and trustworthy
Desired Skills & Experience:
  • Completion of an apprentice programor technical training as a lineman
  • Possess a valid CDL-A license
  • Safe driving practices and knowledgeof state and local laws pertaining to the operation of motor vehicles onstreets, roads and highways
