Job Title: Journeyman Lineman/ Foreman

Department: Operations

Position Status: Full-Time / Hourly

As directed by company management, the Journeyman Lineman is responsible for the safe construction, installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of overhead and underground electrical distribution systems. This position performs medium-voltage distribution work for utility, municipal, commercial, and industrial customers while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, productivity, and professionalism.

The Journeyman Lineman serves as a technical leader in the field and is expected to demonstrate sound judgment, strong workmanship, and a commitment to mentoring apprentices while supporting Foremen, General Foremen, Superintendents, and Project Managers in the successful execution of company projects.

The Journeyman Lineman represents N Line Electric in the field and is expected to uphold the company's Core Values keeping up with company uniforms cleanliness, while promoting a culture of accountability, communication, teamwork, continuous improvement, and safety.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Distribution Construction

• Construct, install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair overhead and underground electrical distribution systems.
• Install poles, anchors, crossarms, conductors, transformers, switches, regulators, sectionalizing equipment, pad-mounted equipment, and related distribution facilities.
• Perform work on energized and de-energized electrical systems while following all company safety procedures.
• Safely perform switching activities as directed.
• Troubleshoot distribution system failures and assist with emergency restoration activities.
• Install conduit, cable, grounding systems, terminations, and associated electrical infrastructure.

Project Execution-Foreman Role

• Complete assigned work safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications, schedules, and quality standards.
• Read and interpret construction drawings, staking sheets, utility maps, specifications, and work orders.
• Maintain production while ensuring workmanship meets company and customer expectations.
• Assist with material planning and verify materials required for assigned work.
• Identify field conflicts and communicate solutions to supervision.

Leadership- Both Foreman & Journeyman

• Lead by example through safe work practices, professionalism, and quality workmanship.
• Mentor Apprentice Linemen and less experienced employees.
• Promote teamwork and maintain positive working relationships with coworkers, customers, inspectors, and subcontractors.
• Support Foremen by helping coordinate daily work activities and maintaining crew productivity.

Safety

• Follow all OSHA regulations, customer requirements, and N Line Electric safety policies.
• Participate in daily job briefings, hazard assessments, and safety meetings.
• Utilize all required personal protective equipment.
• Report unsafe conditions, incidents, and near misses immediately.
• Stop work whenever unsafe conditions exist.

Equipment & Asset Care

• Keeping Equipment clean and organized
• Safely operate company vehicles, bucket trucks, digger derricks, trenchers, excavators, backhoes, and related construction equipment.
• Perform required inspections of vehicles, equipment, and tools.
• Maintain company equipment in clean and serviceable condition.
• Properly account for company materials and equipment assigned to projects.

Administrative Responsibilities- Journeyman & Foreman

• Complete required documentation accurately and on time.
• Assist with material tracking and inventory.
• Document completed work and communicate project progress to supervision.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Completion of a certified Journeyman Lineman Apprenticeship Program.
• Current Journeyman Lineman certification.
• Valid Driver's License.
• Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
• Demonstrated experience constructing and maintaining overhead and underground electrical distribution systems.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with medium-voltage utility distribution construction.
• Experience working for an electrical contractor.
• Experience operating heavy equipment.
• OSHA 10 Journeyman or OSHA 30 certification Foreman
• CPR and First Aid certification.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Thorough knowledge of overhead and underground electrical distribution systems.
• Strong understanding of OSHA regulations and electrical safe work practices.
• Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, utility maps, and staking sheets.

Physical Requirements

This position requires frequent standing, walking, climbing, lifting, bending, kneeling, reaching, pushing, pulling, and working at heights.

Employees must be capable of lifting up to 100 pounds, climbing utility poles, working from aerial devices, operating heavy equipment, and performing physically demanding work in varying weather conditions.

Working Conditions

Work is performed primarily outdoors in all weather conditions and includes exposure to energized electrical equipment, heavy equipment, traffic, excavation hazards, confined spaces, and other construction-related risks.

Overtime, weekend work, emergency callouts, overnight travel, and storm restoration work may be required based upon project and customer needs.
