Job summary

T&T Construction Management Group in Orlando, FL seeks a Foreman to lead a crew on tilt-up concrete projects, supervising carpentry, rebar, and concrete finishing tasks with a focus on safety and quality.

Job description

The Foreman at T&T Construction Management Group is a crucial front-line leadership role on the job site, responsible for directly supervising a crew of skilled and general laborers in the execution of specialized tilt-up concrete construction tasks. This position requires strong technical knowledge within their specific area of concrete work (Carpentry, Rodbusting, Panel Erection, or Concrete Finishing), hands-on experience, exceptional leadership capabilities, and an unwavering commitment to safety and quality. Foremen are instrumental in ensuring daily operations align with project plans, maintaining productivity, and fostering a safe, efficient, and high-quality work environment within their specialty.

Key Responsibilities

Specialized Technical Execution Responsibilities by Foreman Specialty:

1. Production Foreman

  • Provide hands-on expertise and guidance in precise formwork setup, including layout, cutting, assembly, and bracing for tilt-up panels and foundations.
  • Oversee the safe and efficient operation of a variety of hand and power tools specific to carpentry, including saws, drills, and grinders.
  • Direct and assist with panel bracing, shoring, and general structural support activities.

2. Rodbusting (Rebar) Foreman

  • Provide hands-on expertise and guidance in the installation, tying, and positioning of reinforcing steel (rebar) according to engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Oversee the safe and efficient operation of various hand and power tools specific to rebar work.

3. Concrete Finishing Foreman

  • Provide hands-on expertise and guidance in all aspects of concrete placement, vibration, and finishing using various tools (e.g., screeds, trowels, floats, power equipment, laser screeds) to achieve required finishes and tolerances.
  • Oversee the safe and efficient operation of various hand and power tools and specialized equipment used in concrete finishing.
  • Provide hands-on expertise and guidance in the preparation of tilt-up panels for erection, including patching, grinding, and installation of embeds and lifting hardware.
  • Direct and assist with panel bracing, shoring, and general structural support activities during the erection process.
  • Oversee the safe and efficient operation of various hand and power tools specific to panel erection.
Key Responsibilities

Crew Supervision & Direction:

  • Directly lead, supervise, and motivate a crew of laborers and skilled tradespeople.
  • Assign tasks, provide clear instructions, and ensure work is completed efficiently and correctly within their specialized area.

Safety Enforcement:

  • Implement and enforce all company safety policies and procedures, and OSHA regulations.
  • Conduct daily safety briefings (toolbox talks), identify and mitigate hazards, and ensure all crew members adhere to safety protocols.

Quality Control:

  • Ensure all work performed by the crew meets T&T's quality standards, project specifications, and blueprint requirements.
  • Conduct in-progress checks to prevent defects and rework.

Productivity & Efficiency :

  • Organize and manage daily workflow to maximize crew productivity.
  • Optimize resource allocation (labor, materials, equipment) to ensure tasks are completed on time.

Material & Equipment Management:

  • Coordinate with the Superintendent for timely material delivery and proper equipment utilization.
  • Ensure tools and equipment are used safely and maintained properly.

Communication & Reporting:

  • Communicate progress, issues, and daily activities to the Superintendent.
  • Complete daily reports accurately, documenting crew hours, tasks completed, and any incidents or challenges.

Problem Solving (Applicable to all specialties):

  • Identify and resolve routine on-site operational issues, seeking guidance from the Superintendent for more complex challenges.

Training & Mentoring (Applicable to all specialties):

  • Train and mentor junior crew members, helping them develop their skills and understand best practices within their specialized area.
Foreman I
  • Experience: 3-5 years of hands-on experience in concrete construction, with at least 1-2 years in a lead or supervisory capacity on a crew within their specific specialty (Carpentry, Rodbusting, Concrete Finishing, or Panel Erection). Some exposure to tilt-up concrete is beneficial.
  • Education: High school diploma or GED preferred. Relevant trade certifications or vocational training in concrete construction is a plus. OSHA 10-hour certification requiered or preferred.
  • Skills:
  • Solid understanding of basic concrete work relevant to their specialty, including rebar tying, form setting, or concrete pouring/finishing.
  • Ability to read and interpret basic blueprints and construction drawings.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate instructions to a small crew.
  • Basic knowledge of construction site safety and willingness to enforce rules.
  • Hands-on proficiency with common construction tools and equipment related to their specialty.
  • Reliable and able to work effectively under direction.
  • Responsibilities: Leads a small crew (2-5 people) on routine concrete tasks or specific parts of larger tilt-up projects within their specialty under direct supervision of a Superintendent. Focuses on safe and efficient execution of assigned tasks, learning T&T's specific tilt-up processes, and developing leadership capabilities.
Physical Requirements

Mobility:

  • Frequent walking, standing, sitting, climbing stairs, and occasionally bending, kneeling, or crouching.
  • Ability to navigate construction sites, which may involve uneven surfaces, ladders, and confined spaces.

Lifting:

  • The ability to lift up to 35 pounds, occasionally, for tasks like carrying equipment or materials.

Sensory Abilities:

  • Clear vision for reading blueprints, inspecting work, and operating equipment.
  • Good hearing for communication with team members and awareness of site noises.
  • Tolerance for working in various weather conditions (heat, cold, rain).
  • Ability to work in noisy environments with construction equipment.
  • Will be a combination of office and construction job site work environments.
  • Must be willing and able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, safety glasses, vests, boots, and earplugs.
