R.B. Hinkle is an underground and overhead utility contractor, specializing in conduit, manholes and streetlights through trenching, directional drilling and moling.

The company also provides underground cable installation, including new cable, replacements, upgrades and service restoration. Foreman Gas oversees daily field operations of gas utility construction projects, ensuring safety, efficiency, and adherence to project specifications and company standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; relevant trade school certification preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years in natural gas distribution construction and maintenance, with at least 2 years in supervision.
• Thorough knowledge of natural gas pipeline installation, repair, and safety procedures (e.g., DOT regulations, 49 CFR Part 192).
• Proven ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings.

Job Overview: Job Summary

The Foreman Gas is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the daily field operations of gas utility construction projects, ensuring safety, efficiency, and adherence to project specifications and company standards.

Job Responsibilities

• Supervise and direct crews in the installation, maintenance, and repair of natural gas pipelines, mains, and service lines.
• Plan, schedule, and assign daily tasks to crew members, ensuring optimal resource utilization and project progression.
• Interpret blueprints, schematics, and work orders to ensure accurate execution of gas system construction and repair.
• Conduct daily safety meetings, enforce all safety regulations and policies, and ensure a safe working environment.
• Monitor and inspect work in progress to ensure quality, compliance with specifications, and adherence to gas utility standards.
• Operate and/or oversee the operation of heavy equipment such as excavators, trenchers, and backhoes.
• Troubleshoot and resolve field issues, making on-the-spot decisions to maintain project timelines.
• Communicate effectively with project managers, engineers, clients, and crew members.
• Maintain accurate daily logs, progress reports, and equipment maintenance records.
• Order materials and equipment as needed, ensuring availability for project demands.
• Train and mentor crew members, fostering skill development and adherence to best practices.

Job Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; relevant trade school certification preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in natural gas distribution construction and maintenance, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
• Thorough knowledge of natural gas pipeline installation, repair, and safety procedures (e.g., DOT regulations, 49 CFR Part 192).

• Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; CDL preferred.
• Ability to operate various heavy equipment safely and efficiently.
• Must be able to work outdoors in various weather conditions and lift up to 50 pounds.
• OSHA 10 or 30 certification preferred.
