Job summary

Primoris Gas Operations in Orlando, FL is seeking a dedicated Natural Gas Utility Locator to accurately locate and mark underground gas lines in a safe and efficient manner. You will interpret utility maps and blueprints, communicate locations to excavation crews and property owners, and document activities in company systems while maintaining locating equipment and vehicle readiness.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1+ years of utility locating experience preferred, especially with natural gas lines.
• Ability to read maps, blueprints, and schematics.
• Knowledge of natural gas distribution systems and safety procedures.
• Proficient use of electronic locating equipment.
• Valid driver’s license with clean record.
• Willingness to work overtime and on-call shifts.
• Must pass drug screen and background check.

Responsibilities

Job Summary Primoris Distribution Services, Inc. is seeking a dedicated Natural Gas Utility Locator in Orlando, FL.

Job Responsibilities

• Safely and accurately locate and mark underground natural gas utility lines using specialized electronic detection equipment.
• Read and interpret utility maps, blueprints, and records to identify the precise location of natural gas lines.
• Communicate effectively with excavation crews, contractors, and property owners regarding utility line locations and safety protocols.
• Document all utility locate activities, including marking details, dates, and any encountered issues, using company-provided systems.
• Adhere to all company safety policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements (e.g., 811, D.O.T.).
• Maintain and calibrate assigned locating equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability.
• Operate company vehicles safely and responsibly, adhering to all traffic laws.
• Perform basic maintenance and inspection of company vehicles and equipment.
• Participate in on-call rotations and respond to emergency locate requests as needed.
• Work independently in various weather conditions and terrain.

Job Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Previous experience (1+ years preferred) in utility locating, specifically with natural gas lines, or a related field.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting utility maps, blueprints, and schematics.
• Strong understanding of natural gas distribution systems and associated safety procedures.
• Demonstrated ability to use electronic utility locating equipment effectively and accurately.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including overtime, weekends, and participate in an on-call schedule.
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and perform physical tasks, including walking, bending, lifting, and carrying equipment.
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
