Position Overview
Beitzel Corporation is seeking aForeman – Field Welding & Mechanical Services to lead and support a dynamic field team on a variety of challenging industrial construction projects. This is not a desk job—it's a hands-on leadership role for someone who enjoys being in the field, working side-by-side with their crew, and solving problems in real-time.
As a Foreman, you'll be responsible for guiding Field Welding & Mechanical Services personnel across multiple job sites and industries, including manufacturing, power generation, aggregate, coal, wind energy, and more. While welding is a key skill for this role, your daily tasks will go beyond welding—from mechanical work to rigging and custom solutions that require thinking on your feet.
Much of the work is solution-based, often performed without detailed plans or drawings, so creativity and adaptability are essential. If you're the kind of leader who thrives under pressure, enjoys solving problems in the moment, and isn’t afraid to get your hands dirty, we want to hear from you.
What You'll Do
- Lead jobs in the field and assist with oversight of daily operations with relation to the job
- Perform general labor for a variety of trades such as concrete work, rebar, masonry, welding, pipefitting, carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, mechanical, rigging, excavation, ditching, trenching, etc. as required
- Perform layouts and perform alignments using a transit/laser
- Secure parts and position assemblies prior to installation
- Read and interpret blueprints
- Identify and communicate potential changes in the scope of work to managers
- Provide daily operations updates to supervisor
- Provide detailed paperwork and documentation such as field reports, revising drawings, etc. to ensure accurate record keeping, billing, and inventory
- Provide troubleshooting to follow a problem to the source and solve the issue
Working Conditions
- Sit, talk, hear, read, and write
- Regularly walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms
- Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Perform duties on-site and underground at industrial locations
- Work in extreme temperature conditions and environments
- Perform work at a variety of heights
What You'll Bring
- 4+ years of supervisory experience in industrial construction preferred
- Must possess mechanical skills and experience in a wide variety of industrial jobs
- Rigging knowledge and experience with the ability to effectively set up chain falls and direct crane lifts preferred
- Possess OSHA 30 or ability to obtain
- Proven ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
- Ability to work independently or in a team environment
- Must be able to read, interpret, and work from blueprints
- Must possess basic math skills including adding, subtracting, decimals, and fractions
