Job summary

Zachry Group is seeking an Electrician for on-site work in Texas. You will ensure compliance with safety rules, read blueprints, install conduit and cables, and lead STA meetings. The role requires detailed inspections, tool safety, and coordination with multi-craft teams.

Candidate must hold an NCCER Plus Industrial Electrician License and demonstrate strong teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced refinery/terminal setting.

Qualifications

  • Must possess NCCER Plus Industrial Electrician License and ability to read prints, drawings and schematics.
  • Strong safety awareness and adherence to NFPA 70 NEC 2014 standards.
  • Ability to work with others and follow supervisors’ directions.

Responsibilities

  • Comply with Zachry and site safety rules with oversight of coworkers.
  • Inspect designated work areas for hazards and correct as needed.
  • Lead Safety Task Assessment (STA) meetings and participate in site programs.
  • Install and maintain conduit, cables, and electrical equipment per NFPA 70 (NEC 2014).
  • Verify testing equipment and certify electrical systems operate as intended.

Job description

  • Responsible for complying with all Zachry and site specific safety rules with over sight of co-workers to ensure compliance
  • Responsible for following direction from a Multi-Craft Electrician, General Foreman, Craft Superintendent, Site Superintendent and or Project Manager
  • Responsible for complying with the Lock, Tag and Try work procedure; this standard applies to the Sweeny Refinery, associated facilities, and outlying terminals. Will have over sight of co-workers within your area of responsibility to ensure compliance
  • Responsible for inspecting all designated work areas for hazards
  • Participate in and complete the Zachry Craft Advancement Program (ZCAP) for Electricians per Site established guidelines.
  • Responsible for performing detailed inspections on hand and power tools to ensure they are safe to operate and in proper working order
  • Responsible for the safe use of hand and power tools such as conduit benders, screwdrivers, pliers, knives, hacksaws, wire strippers and drills with over sight of co-workers to ensure compliance
  • Responsible for examining blue prints, sketches, diagrams, building plans and specifications to determine locations of circuits, outlets, load centers, panel boards, wires, conduit, components and other equipment
  • Responsible for carrying, cutting, bending, connecting and installing conduit as defined in NFPA 70 (NEC 2014) with over sight of co-workers to ensure compliance
  • Responsible for pulling cables and conductors through specified pathways as defined in NFPA 70 (NEC 2014) with over sight of co-workers to ensure compliance
  • Responsible for the modification, fabrication and installation of cable trays as required and as defined in NFPA 70 (NEC 2014) with over sight of co-workers to ensure compliance
  • Responsible for the safe operation of testing equipment to validate connections and ensure capability of circuits using such tools such as clamp meters, ohmmeters, voltmeters and harmonics testers with over sight of co-workers to ensure compliance
  • Responsible for the inspection and testing of all electrical equipment to ensure safe operation and to certify it is operating as intended with over sight of co-workers to ensure compliance
  • Responsible for the safe installation and maintenance of temporary power systems and their distribution system as defined in NFPA 70 (NEC 2014) with direct over sight of co-workers to ensure compliance
  • Responsible for the installation and maintenance of the assured equipment grounding / bonding on equipment and facilities with over sight of co-workers to ensure compliance
  • Responsible for terminating wire/cable to electrical equipment such as but not limited to outlets, switches, breakers, control panels, and distributions systems with over sight of co-workers to ensure compliance
  • Responsible for observing all state and local building / electrical codes
  • Responsible for leading the Safety Task Assessment (STA) meetings
  • Performs other duties as required

Physical demands and work environment:
  • Physical demands: Employee will be required to adhere to large amounts of standing, walking, bending, squatting and lifting. Will talk and hear to communicate. Will use arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, and pull: objects, materials, controls and tools. May be required to lift, carry and move up to 25lbs. Will occasionally work at heights, climb ladders and stairways and work off of platforms. Will use vision abilities to focus, see short and long distances, colors, depth perception and peripheral vision. Will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to: hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs/muffs, masks/respirators, safety vests, gloves and steel-toe boots.
  • Work environment: Will work in all weather conditions ranging from warm/hot – cool/cold. Occasional rain. Will work at different elevations. Noise levels will be moderate to high. Job site will contain light to heavy equipment vehicles, small to large equipment, materials, communication equipment and tools. People standing, walking, sitting, signaling and talking. Bells, whistles and alarms.
Qualifications
  • Must possess a NCCER Plus Industrial Electrician License
  • Must be able to read and interpret prints, drawings, schematics and plans
  • Thorough knowledge of Electrician hand, power tools and layout tools
  • Must have required tools
  • Must be able to work at heights of 300 ft.
  • Must be able to meet the physical demands and pre-employment conditions
  • Must have reliable transportation
