Job summary

LHC, Inc. in Kalispell, MT is seeking a Construction & Grading Foreman II to lead field crews on heavy civil projects across the Flathead Valley. You will supervise excavation, grading, and underground work, read blueprints, and ensure safety and quality on site.

This is a hands-on leadership role requiring 5+ years in heavy civil construction and 3+ years as a foreman or crew lead. Proficiency with GPS (Topcon) and operating a range of heavy equipment is preferred.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years in heavy civil construction (utilities, grading, or site work).
  • 3+ years in leadership as foreman or crew lead.
  • Proficiency operating a wide range of heavy equipment.
  • Ability to read blueprints and independently set grade.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and team-building skills.
  • Safety-focused and compliant in dynamic field environments.
  • Valid driver's license; CDL preferred or willing to obtain.
  • Willingness to travel and work extended hours when necessary.
  • Familiarity with Topcon GPS and light mechanical skills a plus.
  • Able to work year-round with seasonal variation.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee daily operations of excavation, grading, and underground utility crews.
  • Coordinate labor, materials, and equipment to meet schedule and quality goals.
  • Operate heavy equipment as needed (excavators, dozers, loaders, skid steers, rollers).
  • Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Set grades using lasers and grade rods; GPS experience.
  • Ensure job site safety by enforcing company and OSHA standards.
  • Communicate clearly with project managers, inspectors, and crew members.
  • Train and mentor crew members in equipment use, safety, and quality standards.
  • Monitor progress, solve problems on site, and report issues proactively.
  • Travel to out-of-town job sites.
  • Support site cleanup and light equipment maintenance.

What You'll Do

What You Bring
