Job summary

Zachry Group is seeking an Industrial Journeyman Carpenter to construct, dismantle, and repair wooden and metal forms on industrial construction projects. On-site, you will read blueprints, measure and cut materials, and build concrete and wooden forms while adhering to safety rules.

With 4+ years of carpentry on industrial sites and reliable transportation, you will support a variety of tasks and assist other trades as needed. This is a full-time onsite role requiring commitment and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Read blueprints and specifications to determine the scope of work, locations, quantities, and sizes of materials.
• Identify tools required for tasks and safety risks and precautions.
• Measure, mark, and cut wooden/metal materials to specification.
• Construct, reinforce and dismantle pre-constructed concrete forms.
• Build and construct wooden forms.
• Contribute to other projects such as building decks, steps, bulletin boards, and additional wooden structures.
• Maintain clean work areas and assist other crafts as needed.

Position Summary

Industrial Journeyman Carpenter (insert level) will construct, dismantle, and repair wooden and metal objects and/or concrete forms.

• Must have reliable transportation.

Qualifications

Position Responsibilities

• Read blueprints and specifications to determine the scope of work: locations, quantities, and sizes of materials required.
• Identify all tools required for tasks.
• Identify safety risks and the precautions required to eliminate those risks.
• Measure, mark, and cut required wooden/metallic materials to required specifications.
• Construct, re-enforce and dismantle pre-constructed concrete forms.
• Build and construct wooden forms.
• Work on miscellaneous construction projects such as but not limited to building decks and steps, building bulletin boards, and building any additional wooden structures.
• Clean up/housekeeping of work areas.
• Must be willing to assist other crafts and perform additional job duties while not performing primary craft duties.

Required Qualifications

• Must have 4+ years working as a carpenter or carpenter helper on an industrial construction project.
• Must be able to read blueprints, plans, and drawings proficiently to perform duties.
• Must have knowledge of materials, tools, and processes involved with basic building techniques and form construction.
• Must be able to compute basic arithmetic functions, measure, mark, and cut equipment and materials to specification.
• Must be able to work full work schedule and any additional overtime as needed.
• Must be willing to assist other crafts and perform additional job duties while not performing primary craft duties.
• Must be willing to work safely and follow all safety rules and regulations.
• Must follow all company and site rules and regulations.

Preferred Additional Qualifications

• Current Zachry or Zachry ROF’ed employee.
• Former experience working with Zachry Industrial, Inc.
• National Center for Construction Education and Research’s (NCCER) certification for Industrial Journeyman Carpenter.
• Formal/Technical education.
• Experience working with concrete and rebar.

Reporting to:

This position does not have any direct reports; however, the position will work closely with and oversee on occasion of helper and labor positions. The position will hold a positional and expertise authority of the helper and laborer positions.

Physical Requirements

• Employees will be required to adhere to large amounts of standing, walking, bending, squatting, sitting and lifting.
• Will talk and hear to communicate.
• Will use arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, and pull objects, materials, controls and tools.
• May be required to pick up, lift, carry and move up to 50lbs.
• Will work at heights, climb ladders and stairways, and may occasionally work off platforms/scaffolding using the appropriate fall protection requirements.
• Must be able to work in all weather conditions (including heat, rain, cold and wind) while wearing appropriate PPE.
• Will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to hard hat, safety glasses/spoggles, ear plugs, masks/respirators, hi-vis safety vests, leather gloves and leather steel-toed work boots.
