Job summary

Osmose Utilities Services, Inc. is looking for a Foremen Apprentice I in Nevada, Iowa. This role involves learning the inspection, maintenance, and restoration of utility infrastructure while earning $23 per hour during training. The apprentice will work under a dedicated training Foreman and will be responsible for maintaining tools and achieving safety and production goals.

Applicants must be 19 years or older, possess a high school diploma or GED, have leadership qualities, and a valid driver's license with at least 3 years of driving experience. The position includes paid training, full-time employment, medical insurance, and more!

Summary of position:

Osmose Foremen Apprentice I are responsible for learning the inspection, maintenance, and restoration process of utility infrastructure. They are also responsible for applying the knowledge learned live in the field with a dedicated training Foreman. This position is strictly performed on a training crew.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain all tools, vehicles, and equipment.
  • Achieve expected safety, quality, and production goals.
  • Complete online learning courses as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Must be at least 19 years old and have a high school diploma or GED.
  • Possess leadership qualities to effectively supervise and motivate a working field crew.
  • Assume full responsibility for the safe operation and maintenance of a company vehicle, equipment, and tools.
  • Must possess a Valid Driver's License, with a minimum of 3 years of driving experience.
  • Ability to positively represent the Osmose organization to customers and the communities in which they work.
  • Enjoy working outdoors in all types of weather and have the desire to actively participate in physically demanding work lifting or moving up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
  • Willing to travel locally, statewide or regionally as required.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk. They must have full range of mobility in upper and lower body. The employee is frequently required to sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk; hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may routinely handle and/or apply preservatives, coatings, and/or other chemical substances. The position regularly works in outdoor conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, cold and freezing temperatures, and exposure to poisonous plants, insects, and allergens. The employee may also be exposed to energized electrical equipment and will be required to take appropriate precautions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate with short periods of loud noise exceeding 85 decibels.

Travel: 80%+

Varies by customer and/or location and can include frequent Monday through Friday overnight travel throughout one or more states. Extended work weeks and additional hours are probable during peak work periods or for specific jobs. Must maintain consistent attendance record and be available for work Monday through Friday and sometimes weekends as needed.
