Job summary

Curtin Co. is seeking a Foreman to lead heavy highway construction projects in the Savannah area, including barrier placement, drains, and concrete slab work.

The Foreman will manage on-site work to meet the Contractor’s schedule, report to the Superintendent daily, and ensure DOT standards are followed. Travel regionally/overnight is possible; a company vehicle is provided and a valid driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Valid Driver License required and acceptable driving record.
  • Proficient in using GPS and routing systems.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a cross-functional team.

Responsibilities

  • Meet with the Superintendent daily/weekly as needed to review the work schedule.
  • Follow the schedule as set up by the Superintendent. Check the schedule daily for changes.
  • Meet with Contractor representatives as necessary to review the work plan and proceed with the plan.
  • Advise and report daily on work performed; update the Superintendent as needed on changes in requested work or quantities.
  • Track all crew personnel's daily time and job duties; report weekly via iPad / email system.
  • Record and report all work performed daily using the iPad / email system.
  • Perform daily / weekly meetings with crew covering safety, training and procedures, etc.
  • Record and report weekly maintenance logs on equipment used during the week.
  • Manage all site work as needed to complete the scheduled work; instruct personnel and coordinate trucking.
  • Adhere to company rules and regulations; obey all applicable traffic laws and drive according to weather/road conditions.
  • Comply with DOT regulations and OSHA safety laws and regulations.

Job description

The Foreman position works on critical infrastructure projects throughout the Savannah area. These projects include installing temporary concrete barriers, temporary impact attenuators, temporary glare screens, quick-move barriers, permanent impact attenuators, permanent barrier gates, single-faced barriers, shoulder drain installation, and concrete rehab. The Foreman is required to manage the work as scheduled to meet the Contractor’s requirements & follow all DOT standards. All work is related to heavy highway construction projects, specializing in the placement of concrete safety barriers, installation of shoulder drains, or concrete slab replacement. All foremen have a Superintendent they report to daily. The superintendent will set their weekly schedule & direct scopes of work on the upcoming schedule. This position is ideal for candidates with road construction experience to include asphalt paving; installation of traffic control devices; barrier walls, and lane closures. This position may require regional and overnight travel on a weekly basis. The Foreman is assigned a company vehicle (transports crew and equipment) - must have a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.

Daily Duties:
  • Meet with the Superintendent daily/weekly as needed to review the work schedule.

  • Always make safety a priority.
  • Comply with OSHA safety laws and regulations.
Position Requirements:
  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Valid Driver License Required
  • Must have an acceptable driving record.
  • Proficient in using GPS and other routing systems.

  • Mental and visual attention is necessary to effectively complete work tasks.
Environmental Conditions
  • Work outside and be exposed to the weather.
  • Wear protective or safety equipment, i.e. safety boots/shoes, glasses, gloves, hearing protection, hard hats, etc.
  • May be exposed to high levels of noise, grease, dust, and a variety of substances that are typically associated with a construction site.
