Job summary

The Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) is seeking an Actuary II Forecasting in Austin to support forecasting for Medicaid, CHIP, TANF, and other programs. The role balances actuarial, statistical, and data-driven insights within a hybrid In-Office/Telework environment with 80% telework and 20% in-office.

Responsibilities include developing time-series models, validating data, and delivering monthly reports to management.

Qualifications

• Strong analytical skills with experience in data analysis and/or statistical modeling.
• Experience with statistical software (SAS or R) and forecasting software.
• Experience with Excel, including linking multiple worksheets and pivot tables.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop complex statistical models (time series) using SAS or other software to forecast HHSC programs.
• Maintain and update complex spreadsheets; identify opportunities for improvement.
• Pull and analyze historical data monthly to identify anomalies and ensure forecasting data integrity.
• Provide monthly/quarterly reports on model performance and trends to management and stakeholders.
• Perform ad-hoc queries and run simulations as requested.
