Job summary

Ford Racing is seeking a senior leader to drive a production vehicle program from concept to plant build. You will manage engineering milestones, cross‑functional teams, and supplier engagements to ensure the program meets cost, schedule, and quality targets.

The role requires a strong engineering background, 10 years in automotive OEM, and 5 years in vehicle engineering or program management, with a proven leadership track record. This is a hybrid role onsite in the U.S.

In this position...
  • Ford Motor Company continues to grow and modernize production vehicles for our customers seeking the ultimate capability and performance. In support of this effort, the Ford Racing Team is looking for a technical business leader with passion for high performing vehicles to lead a vehicle program.
  • The Ford Racing Assistant Chief Program Engineer is responsible for all aspects of delivering a production vehicle program into a manufacturing facility. Position is focused on timely completion of the engineering system and component designs that are compatible with program financial targets.
  • Workload includes managing the product development process using key milestone metrics and resolving cross‑functional issues.Communication with partners across Ford and Supplier organizations to align objectives and manage a timely decision‑making process. Maintain the team’s focus on the product's key aspects to succeed in the enthusiast marketplace.
What you'll do...
  • Deliver vehicle program engineering and financial milestones on time with quality.
  • Deliver vehicle program financial status for engineering, vendor & facilities tooling and cost.
  • Deliver vehicle program supplier sourcing for all new tooled end items, both Ford Racing-led and core Ford Engineering-led, on time and matching vehicle program targets.
  • Deliver production designs that match the vehicle program’s theme and appearance.
  • Deliver a product that meets the established vehicle program marketing targets.
  • Support delivery of the vehicle program attribute targets.
  • Lead the establishment of optimal assumptions for the customer to vehicle interface, including selection of interior components, HMI, features, and services.
  • Deliver the prototype build and the production vehicle launch to standard, meeting the high quality expected by the enthusiast customer.
  • Make fact‑based decisions with cross‑functional team support in a timely manner to maintain program objectives.
  • Take the lead in the resolution of difficult cross‑functional issues to maintain program objectives.
  • Manage a team of program management analysts and functional engineers to deliver the overall vehicle program via prioritization of critical path tasks.
  • Support transfer of technology and methods from the production program to the competition vehicles, and from the competition vehicles to the production vehicle.
  • Deliver technical project presentations to senior management, including results and accomplishments, conclusions and recommendations, and lessons learned.
You'll have...
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
  • 10 years of experience in Automotive OEM.
  • 5 years of experience in either Vehicle Engineering or Program Management
  • Demonstrated experience in leading engineering teams.
  • Knowledge of the product development process from concept to the plant build process.
  • Strong business acumen

  • Engineering MS or MBA equivalent degree or higher
  • Prior experience as a Chief Program Engineer or Assistant Chief Program Engineer
  • Automotive plant experience, either from launching vehicles or working in a plant engineering team.
  • Working understanding of problem‑solving skills, for example, (failure mode and effects analysis, causes, severity, detection methods, and statistical methods)
  • Ability to develop clear working‑level documents and management presentations, as well as clear/concise communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage several unique tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to both Ford and supplier locations, domestic and international.

This position is leadership level 5 and ranges from $141,700-$268,300.

Final determination of salary grade will be based on candidate's skills and experience, and base salary will be set within the applicable range according to job scope, responsibility and competitive market value.
