Kellogg Center is seeking a cook to primarily prepare meals for the MSU football team, reporting to the cooks who coordinate with strength coaches and dietitians to fuel elite performances.

The role involves grilling, broiling, frying, and preparing cooked-to-order entrées for the State Room, room service, Breslin Center, and Kellogg Center. The position may require a chauffer’s license for driving a box truck and requires flexible hours.

Qualifikationen

• Two years satisfactory cooking experience in an a la carte restaurant or equivalent combination of training and experience.
• Working knowledge of cooking methods, processes, and materials.
• Ability to follow prescribed recipes.
• Willingness to work a flexible shift.
• Standards of personal hygiene consistent with sanitation rules and regulations.
• Occasional lifting 26 to 75 pounds is required.

Aufgaben

• Fabricate and portion meats and seafood.
• Grill, broil, fry, and prepare cooked-to-order items such as steaks, chops, fish, eggs, bacon, sausage, and other individual entrees and accompaniments.
• Prepare items with different preparation times and cooking techniques.
• Prepare stocks, sauces and soups.
• Assist other cooks in preparation and serving of food items.
• Develop and prepare specials and soups of the day.
• Taste-test food items.
• Assist supervisors with issues related to menu, production, safety, sanitation, and equipment operation.
• Coordinate timing and sequence of operations to ensure variety of items available throughout serving hours.
• Set up equipment like bain-marie and steam tables; arrange work and serving areas.
• Plate items from various stations for serving.
• Obtain ingredients and equipment for assigned items.
• Operate, clean, and maintain cooking and serving equipment.
• Substitute for other cooks during absences.
• Store and chill all food per guidelines.
