Qualifications

• West Virginia Teaching Certificate or WV Coaching Authorization
• Criminal history check per WV Code §18A-3-10
• Training in coaching, organizing, and administration of athletics desirable
• Experience as participant or coach the sport
• Other qualifications as determined by WVDE, WVSSAC and school administration

Responsibilities

• Develop positive relationships with participants, student body, faculty, parents and community
• Assume responsibility for all matters relating to the organization and administration of the team under direction
• Plan, organize, and schedule a regular program of practices; coordinate offseason with head coaches; submit schedule by June 1
• Enforce discipline and sportsmanship; establish penalties for violations
• Inform participants of rules and penalties at season start
• Know and enforce county, school, WVDE, WVSSAC and federal rules; travel and transportation policies
• Develop high-caliber instruction by teaching fundamental skills for athlete and team success
• Delegate responsibilities to coaching staff with athletic administrator approval
