Qualifications

• West Virginia Teaching Certificate or WV Coaching Authorization is required.
• Criminal history check for licensure as per WV Code §18A-3-10.
• Coaching training, organizing, and administration of athletics desirable.
• Experience as a participant or coach the sport.
• Other qualifications as determined by WVDE, WVSSAC, and school administration.

Responsibilities

• Develop positive relationships with sport participants, student body, faculty, parents, and community.
• Assume responsibility for organization and administration of the team.
• Plan, organize, and schedule a regular program of practices; coordinate with other head coaches in the off-season.
• Enforce discipline and sportsmanlike behavior; establish penalties for breaches.
• Inform participants of rules and penalties at season start.
• Know and enforce all county, school, WVDE, WVSSAC, and federal regulations.
• Teach necessary fundamentals for athlete and team success.
• Delegate duties to coaching staff with athletic administrator approval.
