Job summary

Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre is seeking a Foodservice team member to serve as the designated PIC and oversee daily operations with self-directed priority setting. The role requires leadership to coordinate staff, ensure compliance with food codes, and maintain professional service standards across shifts.

The ideal candidate has at least 3 years of related experience, a High School Diploma or GED, and ServSafe certification within 6 months.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years related work experience (Required).
• ServSafe Certification within 6 months (National Restaurant Association).
• High School Diploma or GED preferred.

Responsibilities

• Acts as the Designated PIC at assigned times or shifts.
• Opens or closes department: locks/unlocks doors, equipment, safe for cash handling.
• Covers Call Off’s: manipulates schedule to cover open shifts by calling in other employees or asking staff to stay.
• Solicits and encourages staff suggestions for process improvements.
• Works to promote a team environment and open communication within the work area.
• Monitors, clears alerts/alarms, and takes appropriate corrective action when necessary.
• Takes and records food temperatures of food being held for service and takes corrective action when necessary.
• Ensures recipe compliance, performs or inputs test trays, patient rounding, communication with CDO, timely execution of tray line, and enforces tray standards.
• Cash handling as instructed, temperature monitoring, staff monitoring, sanitation monitoring, portion control, and customer service.
• Updates daily communication boards with information including counts, product outages, PIC name, etc.
• Monitors cleaning assignments or cleaning assignment lists, ensures staff are cleaning and sanitizing correctly.
• Monitors staff tasks to completion and acts as a mentor to staff; may train staff.
• Places maintenance requests for broken equipment to Facilities.
• Reads and interprets patient meal tickets, patient identifiers, recipes, ingredients, labels and dates.

Job Summary

Can perform assigned duties as a designated PIC (Person In Charge). Works in a self-directed manner to prioritize the established functions of foodservice operations, assists with coordinating staff activities to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of foodservice daily tasks, performs routine assignments related to foodservice operations, ensures a professional and appropriate service standard and monitors other staff for compliance with regulations related to food code and food service, provides leadership and support to other team members, and follows established system wide enterprise and department policies and procedures.

Position Details

• New hires are eligible for a bonus up to $2,500.
• Must be available to work rotating weekends/holidays.
• Eligible for shift differential.
