Job summary

Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton, PA is seeking a flexible per diem Food Service Worker to perform routine tasks related to portioning and serving food and maintaining cleanliness in clinical food service areas.

You will follow required safety and sanitation procedures, take temperatures, and assist with meal tray distribution in a regulated healthcare environment. This role offers hours as needed and category as non-benefits eligible.

Qualifications

• Prior experience with food handling (prep, serving, cleaning, customer service) preferred.

Job Summary

Performs routine tasks related to portioning and serving food and cleaning of tableware, equipment or work area. Follows special cleaning and trash handling techniques as required by regulatory agencies. Ensures a professional and appropriate Service Standard while performing the job.

Job Duties

• Food preparation, packaging, and deliveries.
• Clean and sanitize food service areas.
• Take and record temperature of food and storage areas.
• Place food trays over warmers or store in refrigerated cabinets.
• Weigh or measure ingredients.
• Receive and store food supplies, equipment, and utensils.
• Handle cash as needed.
• Read and interpret patient meal tickets, identifiers, recipes, ingredient labels and dating.
• Work in a clinical environment and comply with organization policies and procedures.

Position Details

This is a flex position (per diem, hours as needed). Non‑benefits eligible. Hours will vary based on department staffing needs.
