Job summary

Chartwells Higher Education Dining Services is hiring for a full-time Food Unit Lead at Winona State University. Coordinate activities of other food-service staff to deliver a quality dining experience for students, staff and visitors.

The role requires prior food service and supervisory experience, with schedules from 7:00 am–3:00 pm or 2:00 pm–10:00 pm. On-site position with competitive hourly pay and opportunities for growth and development.

Qualifications

  • Prior food service and supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Full-time scheduling details provided upon interview.
  • Location on site at Winona State University.

Responsibilities

  • Provides quality customer service with attention to detail.
  • Oversees and participates in the preparation and service of food and beverages per standards.
  • Helps plan menus.
  • Ensures timely meal service and supervises serving.
  • Trains employees and coordinates work for efficiency and excellence in food and service.
  • Prepares reports (inventory, payroll, timekeeping).
  • Responsible for cash handling as per the Food Accounting Manual.
  • Orders food and supplies from approved sources.
  • Ensures sanitation and safety compliance in the facility.
  • Develops sanitation schedule and ensures adherence.
  • Issues written and oral instructions.
  • Oversees staff training in areas of responsibility.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • We are hiring immediately for full time FOOD UNIT LEAD positions.
  • Address: 175 West Mark Street, Winona, MN 55987. Note: online applications accepted only.
  • Schedule: Full time schedule; Monday through Friday, 7:00 am to 3:00 pm and 2:00 pm to 10:00 pm. More details upon interview.
  • Requirement: Prior food service and supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Pay Range: $18.00 per hour to $20.00 per hour.

Job Summary

Coordinates activities of other food-service employees. Creates an enjoyable dining experience for customers, staff and visitors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provides quality customer service by providing one-on-one attention to detail.
  • Oversees and participates in the preparation and service of food and beverage items in accordance with company standards for presentation, sanitation, safety and portion control.
  • Helps plan menus.
  • Ensures timely, efficient meal service; supervises serving of meals.
  • Responds to customer complaints in person at the time of the complaint and via email for electronic complaints.
  • Trains employees; assigns and coordinates work of employees to promote efficiency and excellence in food and service.
  • Determines work procedures, prepares work schedules and expedites work flow.
  • Uses proper systems for completion of required daily/weekly/monthly reports such as inventory-cash reports-production records, payroll and time- keeping.
  • Responsible for proper cash handling as established by the Food Accounting Manual (deposits - petty cash - change funds).
  • Orders food and other necessary supplies from approved sources or purveyors.
  • Directs and participates in the overall sanitation and safety of the facility and employees in accordance with company standards and government regulations.
  • Develops sanitation schedule and ensures food-service employees adhere to the schedule for cleaning of kitchen and dining area and washing of kitchen utensils and equipment.
  • Issues written and oral instructions.
  • Help select and orient employees; oversees staff training in areas of responsibility.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
