Job summary

Chartwells K-12 in Malvern, AR is hiring a full-time Food Unit Lead to coordinate food-service activities and supervise staff. The role offers a 6:00 am–2:30 pm schedule with no guaranteed nights, weekends, or holidays, and summer work is available.

Primary duties include overseeing food preparation, service and sanitation, planning menus, and ensuring accurate cash handling and reporting. Prior food-service, supervisory, and K-12 experience are required.

Responsibilities

• Provides quality customer service by giving one-on-one attention to detail.
• Oversees and participates in the preparation and service of food and beverage items in accordance with company standards for presentation, sanitation, safety and portion control.
• Helps plan menus.
• Ensures timely, efficient meal service; supervises serving of meals.
• Responds to customer complaints in person and via email.
• Trains employees; assigns and coordinates work to promote efficiency and excellence in food and service.
• Determines work procedures, prepares work schedules and expedites workflow.
• Uses systems for daily/weekly/monthly reports such as inventory, production records, payroll and timekeeping.
• Responsible for proper cash handling as established by the Food Accounting Manual.
• Orders food and supplies from approved sources or purveyors.
• Directs sanitation and safety of the facility and employees.
• Develops sanitation schedule and ensures adherence for cleaning of kitchen and dining area.
• Issues written and oral instructions.
• Helps select and orient employees; oversees staff training.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Directs and participates in the overall sanitation and safety of the facility and employees in accordance with company standards and government regulations.
• Develops sanitation schedule and ensures food-service employees adhere to the schedule for cleaning of kitchen and dining area and washing of kitchen utensils and equipment.
• Issues written and oral instructions.
• Help select and orient employees; oversees staff training in areas of responsibility.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
