YOUTH SPECIALIST - MALE, 2nd shift - Sundays/Mondays Off
Hourly Pay: $21.63
Hours: Full Time Employee
This is a full time, 2nd shift position with a primary schedule of Tuesday through Saturday. There is an additional 50 cents per hour shift premium added to the posted wage for 2nd shift and 75 cents per hour for shift overtime work.
Position Description
RESPONSIBILITIES:
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Shall have a minimum of a high school diploma or its equivalent and 2 years of work experience in a facility or child caring institution, OR have completed 30 semester hours of college or equivalent quarter hours. Associates Degree or equivalent in human services or closely related field preferred.
Experience: Minimum of one year of experience dealing with delinquent or emotionally troubled youths and/or families, which may have been in an intern or volunteer capacity.
Other Requirements: Employees must be able to perform work in a highly stressful work environment: employees must exude a calm demeanor and ability to handle, mitigate, and deescalate volatile situations. Regularly required to deal with highly volatile and angry individuals (i.e. yelling, cursing, verbal confrontations, threats, etc.). Valid Michigan Driver’s License. Must be certified or be able to become certified in CPR, AED and first aid. Must be certified in approved physical management system or be able to become certified in approved physical management system.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
This is a non-exempt position with the AFSCME Bargaining Unit, Pay Grade E, offering excellent benefits, including investment plan options, PTO accrual and PAID HOLIDAYS UPON HIRE! All other benefits including use of accrued PTO and insurance (medical/prescription/dental/vision/life and disability insurance) effective following 90 days of employment and successfully passing the probationary period.

Full time employees are offered an Employer match of up to 5% in our Defined Contribution/401a Plan with voluntary contributions to our 457 Plan and greater than two times the employee contribution to our Retirement Health Savings Plan (RHS). The Employee contribution for the RHS Plan is $900 annually with an employer contribution of $2,050 annually.
Benefit eligible employees choosing to opt out of the County's Health Care Plan with proof of other coverage are eligible to receive an annual $3,000 Cash-In-Lieu of Insurance benefit (paid at $125 per bi-weekly pay period).
