Job Description

JOB GOAL:
To serve the students and staff of Pembroke Public Schools nutritious, attractive meals in a pleasant, efficient and friendly manner.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
  • 1.Food preparation for meal service according to standardized recipes. May include, but not limited to, operation of equipment such as, microwave oven, range, slicers, can openers, mixers and/or food processors. Main responsibilities include preparing, portioning and setting up salads, vegetable sticks, deli sandwiches/station and fruit cups.
  • 2.Ensures kitchen, supplies and cafeteria are organized, clean and sanitary. Including proper storage of all food; chemical and supply storage; sanitation of equipment and utensils.
  • 3.Follows food safety and sanitation guidelines.
  • 4.Individual meal service to student and adult population. Ensures proper portioning of food and necessary accompaniments on serving line. Occasionally assists with functions that may occur during or outside the normal work hours.
  • 5.Incorporates proper food handling techniques at all levels, including gloves, hair restraints, temperature monitoring. Maintain food at appropriate temperatures throughout its flow through the facility (receiving-cooking-service). Record food temperatures of foods on serving line in temperature log per HACCP requirements.
  • 6.Interaction with staff and student population must be professional and courteous, reporting any problems to Cafeteria Manager for resolution.
  • 7.Appropriately date, rotate, label, store and discard all outdated food items.
  • 8.May rotate duties with other prep positions per direction of Cafeteria Manager
  • 9.Participates in clean-up at end of day, including, but not limited to: washing and sanitizing pots and pans, trays, utensils, and all other equipment and areas as necessary.
  • 10.Replenish station as needed between lunches, and help where needed when assigned tasks are completed.
  • 11. Any and all other tasks as assigned by Cafeteria Manager. The foodservice worker is responsible for all assigned aspects of meal production, service, sanitation and safety under direction of the Head Cook/Cafeteria Manager.

Job Requirements
  • 1.Must be capable of acquiring knowledge in the areas of basic nutrition, sanitation, methods for work simplification, computer skills, and use and care of food service equipment.
    2.Experience in food service environment is preferred.
    3.The ability to relate positively and work cooperatively as a team member. The ability to communicate effectively with staff and student population.
    4.The ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
    5.Food safety and sanitation certificate required (ServeSafe).
    6.MySchoolBucks POS experience preferred.
    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
    Must possess the physical capability to perform all job functions including but not limited to: reaching, carrying, pushing, bending, standing for long periods of time, stairs, walking, and handling items weighing up to fifty pounds.
    TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 4.5 hours
