Job summary

Portland Public Schools is seeking a Temporary Food Services Technician and Driver to support the Central Kitchen operations in Portland, ME. The position runs 40 hours per week with a shift from 5:30 am to 2:00 pm, and pays $26 per hour.

You will operate a 22-foot refrigerated box truck, load/unload deliveries, and assist with kitchen maintenance and supplies. The ideal candidate has truck driving experience with an excellent driving record, a High School diploma or equivalent, and the ability

Qualifications

• Experience driving trucks and an excellent driving record.
• High school or trade school diploma, or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
• Certification (or ability to obtain certification) in running motorized materials-handling equipment.
• Other combinations of applicable education training, and experience, which provide the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the responsibilities of the position will be considered

Responsibilities

• Operate medium weight truck in picking up and delivering food and supplies from school to school
• Load and unload trucks and perform receiving duties for deliveries
• Perform maintenance work, services vehicles with gas and water
• Perform preventative maintenance on trucks and specialized kitchen equipment; locate, diagnose, and repair malfunctions and test repaired equipment
• Oversee the cleaning of the Central Kitchen production areas and groundskeeping
• Assure health laws are followed in regards to cleaning of kitchen areas and equipment
• Maintain inventories and provide kitchen with needed supplies
• Perform other related duties as assigned
