Position Overview

The Cashier primarily works in retail operations, handling cash and credit transactions from USC customers. The main responsibilities include operating the cash register/POS accurately, completing transactions, supporting retail operations such as setup, supply maintenance, cleanup, and closedown. Responsibilities may vary based on business needs and client requirements.

Essential Duties

• Operate cash register or equivalent, handle payments, provide change, and issue receipts.
• Ensure accurate ringing of sale items and barcode scanning.
• Provide high-quality customer service consistently.
• Maintain security of cash at all times.
• Follow USC’s cash-handling policies and procedures.
• Assist with setup before service and cleaning after, including wiping tables, vacuuming, and ensuring a clean dining area.
• Clean and sanitize work stations and equipment, adhering to Sodexo, client, and regulatory standards.
• Stock beverage areas, grab-and-go items, service ware, and condiments as needed.
• Attend allergy and foodborne illness training.
• Comply with USC policies and report accidents or injuries promptly.
• Participate in safety meetings, training, and hazard assessments.
• Attend designated training programs.
• Assist with transaction reconciliation and operate peripheral equipment supporting non-cash transactions.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; minimum of 1 year of experience can substitute for education.
• Demonstrate excellent customer service skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Computer literacy in word processing, spreadsheets, etc.

Licenses/Certifications

• Fire Life Safety Training (LA City): Must obtain within 30 days if not already held, and maintain certification.

Additional Details

The hourly rate ranges from $21.00 to $33.15. USC considers various factors when extending offers, including experience, education, skills, and market considerations.
