Job summary

The Alfond Youth & Community Center in Waterville, ME is seeking a part-time Food Service Associate to support our youth, members, and guests with healthy meals and a welcoming dining experience.

You will assist with meal prep, service in the cafeteria and concession areas, cash handling, and maintaining a clean, safe kitchen while following health regulations. Open Saturdays; 27 hours per week. Your role helps nourish families and build community wellbeing.

Qualifications

• A high school education or GED equivalence if preferred.
• Food Safety/Safe Handling Certification from an approved source.
• Ability to obtain certification if not currently holding, within 6 months.
• Civil Rights training is required and provided for all persons who are associated with Food Service.

Responsibilities

• Deliver exemplary guest and member services and participate in all activities associated with the Kitchen, Cafeteria, Wellness Window and the Concession stand including, but not limited to prepping, cooking, cleaning, sales, money handling and serving in a safe and clean environment.
• Prepare food/concessions in a timely and efficient manner.
• Appropriately handle cash and credit card transactions.
• Assist in preparing healthy and nutritional meals for the children that attend our programs throughout the AYCC.
• Assist in preparing a monthly menu chart, maintain the record, and distribute as necessary. (Distribution may include email distribution to staff and local media outlets.)
• Follow established standards of sanitation, safety and food preparation in all areas of the Kitchen including but not limited to following all appropriate local and state health department food safe rules and regulations.
• Be aware and sensitive of those children who are new to the program and take the necessary steps to ensure that they are oriented to program logistics, schedules, and rules that govern conduct and activities with the Alfond Youth & Community Center as it pertains to food services.
• Be aware of allergies and/or other relevant health information.

Requirements

• A high school education or GED equivalence if preferred
• A valid driver\u2019s license with a clean record is desirable
• Food Safety/Safe Handling Certification from an approved source
• Ability to obtain certification if not currently holding, within 6 months
• Civil Rights training is required and provided for all persons who are associated with Food Service

Experience

• 1 to 3 years of experience working in food distribution and preparation
• 1 to 3 years of customer service experience
