Job Description

UVA Dine is seeking enthusiastic and customer-focused Food Service Workers to join our team at the Subway location on the University of Virginia grounds. As a Food Service Worker, you will play a key role in delivering the Subway experience by preparing delicious sandwiches and food items, providing exceptional customer service, and maintaining a clean and inviting store environment.

  • Start Date: July 31, 2025
  • Location: Subway - University of Virginia - 180 McCormick Rd, Charlottesville, VA
  • Hourly Pay Rate: $16

Job Responsibilities
  • Prepare and serve sandwiches, salads, and other food items according to Subway recipes and standards.
  • Operate point-of-sale (POS) systems, handle cash, credit card transactions, and maintain accurate cash drawers.
  • Provide friendly, efficient, and personalized customer service, taking orders and responding to inquiries.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the store, including food preparation areas, serving lines, condiment stations, and dining areas.
  • Follow all food safety and sanitation procedures, including proper handling, storage, and labeling of ingredients.
  • Stock and restock food items, supplies, and other service areas as needed.
  • Assist with inventory counts and report supply needs to the supervisor.
  • Adhere to all Subway brand standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Work effectively as part of a team to ensure smooth and efficient operations during peak hours.
Qualifications
  • Ability to read, write, and understand basic instructions.
  • Ability to perform basic math calculations for cash handling.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Prior experience in food service or customer service is preferred, but not always required.
