Position Details

This position works inside a jail/correctional facility at the Wake County Detention Center. The Food Service Worker accurately and efficiently prepares and serves a variety of food items according to work instructions and menus within a correctional setting. This role involves using various food preparation utensils and machines.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and assist in the preparation of food according to menus and recipes.
• Maintain a clean, food-safe workstation, including cleaning and sanitation duties.
• Serve food during scheduled meal times following policies.
• Use kitchen utensils and equipment properly for cooking and serving.
• Follow all food safety and sanitation regulations.
• Keep the kitchen environment clean and organized, including cleaning refrigerators, equipment, and floors.
• Perform physical tasks such as lifting, bending, and standing for long periods.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• At least 18 years old
