Job description

UPMC McKeesport Food Service Worker

UPMC McKeesport is currently seeking a full-time, regular Food Service Worker to work various 8-hour shifts between 6 am and 7 pm in our Dietary Department.

This position includes weekend and holiday responsibilities. The pay rate is the union starting rate of $16.05/hour.

Purpose:

Under the supervision of the Food Service Supervisor, responsible for setting up the patient tray line, portioning food and condiments according to meal selections, cleaning up after meals, preparing and delivering nourishments, and managing unit par stocks.

Responsibilities:
  1. Empties tray delivery carts and disposes of trash following procedures.
  2. Assists in training new employees.
  3. Performs job duties in alignment with UPMC McKeesport’s service management vision and Nutrition and Food Service standards.
  4. Cleans and sanitizes work areas daily, including work surfaces, patient delivery carts, refrigerators, and equipment.
  5. Completes assigned duties accurately within designated time frames.
  6. Assists with washing, sanitizing, and restocking service ware and carts.
  7. Places food portions on patient trays accurately, according to menu and diet requirements.
  8. Operates the cash register, provides correct change, and performs daily cash drawer counts.
  9. Prepares nourishments and supplements for patients as ordered.
  10. Supplies units with bulk par stocks based on census.
  11. Handles all food following HACCP guidelines.
  12. Prepares for meal service by securing necessary food items and equipment.
  13. Cleans, sanitizes, and restocks stations after meals for the next service period.
  14. Retrieves and organizes clean service ware and carts for operation.
  15. Ensures dishes and bases are at proper service temperatures.
  16. Sweeps and mops floors as needed following procedures.
  17. Provides supplies to other areas as assigned.
