Job description

Supports district schools and principals in fostering an optimal educational environment for students. Responsible for collecting money, maintaining records of students' lunch funds, and preparing salad bar items. Ensures proper cleaning and organization of kitchen and cafeteria areas.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Collects money and checks before and during lunch service hours.
  2. Operates the Meal Tracker (POS) System.
  3. Maintains accurate financial records, verified by the Kitchen Manager.
  4. Prepares checks, cash, and coins for deposit following CN Departmental guidelines.
  5. Maintains records of student charges and collects payments as required.
  6. Informs the Kitchen Manager of delinquent accounts and sends payment reminders daily. Assists in contacting parents as needed.
  7. Maintains a clean and organized workspace.
  8. Assists in cleaning the kitchen, dishes, and all food contact surfaces following HACCP procedures and health codes.
  9. Prepares and sets up salad bar items and assists with kitchen cleaning tasks.
  10. Ensures submitted Free & Reduced forms are complete.
  11. Checks that meal trays meet NSLP guidelines.
  12. Performs other duties as assigned by the Kitchen Manager.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Arizona Food Service Worker Card.
  • Previous cashiering experience.
  • One year of financial record-keeping experience.
  • Ability to work well with students.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to cooperate with Child Nutrition staff.
Physical Demands:

The employee must have reliable attendance, be able to sit, stand, talk, and hear regularly. Must be able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception, and the ability to focus.

Work Environment:

The work environment is typically indoor with mild to moderate noise levels during kitchen operation. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.
