The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs seeks a Food Service Worker to operate independently in the SARRTP Unit. Responsibilities include meal preparation, food handling, and maintaining safety standards. Applicants must demonstrate relevant training or experience and be U.S. citizens.
This Food Service Worker operates independently with minimal supervision in a unit located outside the main facility. They demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of Food Service procedures, including food preparation, modified diets, dishwashing, dry food and perishable food (refrigerated) storage, handling, and food delivery. The role involves transporting and serving meals daily to the Substance Abuse Residence Rehabilitation Treatment Program (SARRTP) Unit.

Experience: A specific length of training and experience is not required; however, you must demonstrate evidence of training or experience that shows your ability to perform the duties of this position. This evidence should be detailed on your resume. Applicants will be rated according to the OPM Federal Wage System Qualification Standards.
Screen-out Element: Your qualifications will be evaluated against the prescribed screen-out element, usually as question 1 in the online questionnaire. Those meeting the minimum qualification will be considered further; others will be rated ineligible. The remaining applicants will be rated against the following Job Elements:
Experience includes paid, unpaid, and volunteer work, such as through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps), or other organizations. Volunteer work can provide valuable skills and experience that translate to paid employment. All qualifying experience will be credited.
Note: A full year of work is considered 35-40 hours per week. Part-time experience is credited proportionally. Applicants should clearly specify their duties, responsibilities, and hours worked per week in each position.
