Job summary

Washington State University is seeking a Food Service Worker Lead in Pullman, WA to support the Dining Services team. You will assist the Chef and culinary staff in preparing and presenting platform menu items, special menus, and catering options.

The role focuses on maintaining par stock levels, proper food handling and storage, and keeping dishware and storage areas organized. A background in food service and leadership is preferred, with driving eligibility and a Washington food handler

Qualifications

  • Possession of, or eligible for, a food handler’s permit and one year of experience in quantity or institutional food preparation and serving; includes six months directing work.
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a Washington Food Handler’s Permit within 14 days of employment.
  • Must have, or be able to obtain by time of hire, a valid driver’s license.

You will help develop and maintain appropriate par stock levels to ensure adequate product availability while minimizing waste, and you will ensure the proper handling, storage, and rotation of all food products. In this role, you will provide an adequate supply of clean, sanitary, and properly stored dishware, utensils, pots, and pans to designated work areas, maintain the cleanliness and organization of storage areas and the loading dock, and assist with entering orders, receiving food, paper products, cleaning supplies, and other deliveries. You will also be responsible for properly storing, rotating, and organizing food, paper, and chemical inventory throughout the unit, as well as ensuring the proper care and maintenance of all equipment used in daily operations.**To support WSU’s ability to attract talent in a competitive job market, this recruitment has been approved for a hiring incentive payment of up to $3,500.00.
