Job description

The Food Service Worker III works closely with both the department manager and kitchen staff to oversee quality meal preparation while actively participating in sanitation and safety within the food service department. This position will lead, coach, and direct Food Service Workers to ensure responsibilities are fulfilled.

The work schedule after training will be: Sunday-Monday 10am-6:30pm, Tuesday-Wednesday OFF, Thursday-Friday 4am-12:30pm, and Saturday 10am-6:30pm.

Principal Duties:
  1. Supervises subordinate personnel, including hiring, workload determination, delegating assignments, training, performance monitoring and evaluation, and initiating corrective or disciplinary actions.
  2. Ensures food is maintained at appropriate temperatures, covers and stores leftovers, and records serving temperatures and leftover quantities.
  3. Inspects and maintains food quality, handling, and safety standards.
  4. Disposes of outdated, sensitive documents, blank warrants, expired food stamps, etc., appropriately.
  5. Cooks, bakes, or serves regular and/or special meals to clients and staff.
  6. Coordinates inventory management to control and distribute supplies and equipment effectively.
  7. Verifies that cash intake matches sales and inventory activity.
  8. Cleans, sterilizes, and disinfects areas and equipment.
The Ideal Candidate:
  • Current employee of the Utah State Hospital
  • ServSafe Certification
  • Basic knowledge of dietetics/nutrition principles and USH kitchen processes
  • Experience in food preparation, sanitation, inventory management, large-scale ordering, record keeping, safety, and cleaning schedules
  • Experience with safety guidelines for kitchen equipment
