Northern Michigan University in Marquette, MI invites applications for the Food Service Worker II-Retail role in Dining Services. Under routine supervision, you will assist in daily retail operations, prepare and sell food and retail items, and provide excellent customer service to students and staff.

The position requires a high school diploma, ServSafe certification or ability to obtain within six months, and at least 18 months of retail/food service experience.

Position Title: Food Service Worker II-Retail

Department: Dining Services

Term of Assignment:Continuing

Term End Date, If Applicable:

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt = overtime eligible

Work Schedule: Variable shifts/days/locations, including afternoon and weekend shifts; typical work hours are Sunday through Friday, with shift start times between 7:30 am and 1:30 pm.

Salary: Hourly rate: $19.15 starting; $20.05 working

Travel: No travel

Brief Statement of Duties

Brief Statement of Duties:Under routine supervision, perform a variety of duties necessary for the daily maintenance, operation and supervision of employees in a retail operation. Provide skills and perform duties in the preparation and resale of various food, beverage and retails items. Ensure success through excellent customer service and maintenance of retail operation standards.

Minimum Qualifications

Required Education: High School Graduation or Equivalent

Required Specialized Training/Certifications: Food Service Sanitation Certification (ServSafe) or the ability to obtain within six months from the start of employment.

Required Minimum Work Experience: Eighteen months of experience in retail/convenience store and/or retail restaurant, including cash registers, food preparation, serving, and customer service.
