Job summary

Denver Public Schools is seeking a Food Service Attendant to prepare and serve meals in a school setting, following food safety standards. The role requires serving students, operating the serving lines, and maintaining clean kitchens per HACCP guidelines.

Qualifications include a High School Diploma/GED Preferred and institutional food service experience; orientation before placement and Colorado residency are required.

Qualifications

  • Previous institutional food service or restaurant experience preferred.
  • Must complete orientation before school placement.
  • Live and work with a permanent home address in Colorado while working with us.
  • Have the ability with or without accommodations to meet the physical demands of the position.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares or assists in the preparation of a variety of foods in accordance with food and safety standards.
  • Washes, cuts, cooks and/or re-heats food items, weighing and measuring ingredients, according to recipes and instructions.
  • Sets up serving lines and serves meal or meal components.
  • Communicates with students and school staff when serving food items.
  • Operates cash register, accepting money and making change for food and beverages served.
  • Cleans and sanitizes dishes, kitchen utensils, equipment and facilities in accordance with approved housekeeping and safety practices and guidelines; performs related kitchen and facility related duties.
  • Operates kitchen equipment.
  • Stocks and organizes food related items and kitchen supplies in refrigerators, freezers, walk-in coolers, and store room; stores food and supplies in accordance with HACCP.
  • Follows approved housekeeping and safety practices to ensure that safe conditions are maintained in the kitchen, food-serving areas, and in dining area.

About This Job

Prepares and serves District school meals in accordance with food and safety standards. Must be able to work in the Northwest area.

Hours

20-37.5 hours per week, Monday - Friday

  • Follows approved housekeeping and safety practices to ensure that safe conditions are maintained in the kitchen, food-serving areas, and in dining area.
What You’ll Need
  • High School Diploma/GED Preferred
  • Previous institutional food service or restaurant experience preferred.
  • Must complete orientation before school placement.
