Job Description: Patient Services Worker
Under the direct supervision of the Patient Services Manager, performs a variety of patient services tasks including tray assembly and delivery, food production, stocking, tray line, dish room, pots and pans, and sanitation.

- Demonstrates proper sanitation, hand washing, glove usage, and infection control procedures in all food service areas.
- Follows safe food handling procedures in storage, preparation, and holding of food items.
- Exhibits excellent customer service skills, communicating courteously and respectfully with patients, families, customers, and staff.
- Adheres to sanitation procedures and chemical use guidelines in cleaning and sanitizing work areas, utensils, and equipment, including knowledge of chemical sanitizers and pH testing.
- Assembles and delivers patient food trays accurately and timely, following patient identification and infection control protocols.
- Assists in loading, transporting, and delivering patient trays, and retrieves items as needed during trayline operations.
- Retrieves soiled trays efficiently while maintaining sanitation and infection control standards.
- Performs cold production tasks and uses personal protective equipment appropriately.
- Stocks and documents food items in patient care units, ensuring proper inventory levels and safety practices.
- Monitors refrigerator and freezer temperatures, practicing FIFO rotation and checking for outdated products.
- Works trayline positions accurately and prepares stations for subsequent shifts.
- Performs trash disposal and waste management following safety procedures.
- Operates and maintains dishroom and dishwashing equipment, following infection control protocols and chemical safety guidelines.
- Clean and sanitize pots, pans, and other kitchen equipment, monitoring sanitizer levels and temperatures.
- Performs detailed cleaning of assigned areas according to checklists, using proper chemicals and PPE.
- Operates and cleans equipment responsibly, adhering to safety procedures.
Department Specific Competencies
- Maintains a general knowledge of modified diets.
License / Certification Requirements: ANSI-accredited Food Handler Certificate or Food Protection Manager Certification within 1 year of hire.
Compensation Range: $23.00 - 23.57 per hour
