Job description

Job Title: Cafeteria Employee

Under the direct supervision of the Retail Manager and/or the Operations Manager, the Cafeteria Employee performs duties related to dish room, pots & pans, sanitation, and preparing & serving a variety of food items to employees and guests. Additional responsibilities include:

  1. Performing complex tasks: cashiering, cooking made-to-order grill items, operating equipment requiring special skills and training.
  2. Supporting management: assisting with daily operations of patient food services, training and developing Food Service Workers I and II, and assessing their competencies.
  3. Providing leadership: offering support, guidance, and mentorship to Food Service I staff.
  4. Customer service: demonstrating high performance in customer service and patient satisfaction.
  5. Receiving procedures: following proper procedures for receiving food and supplies, maintaining logs, and conducting checks for packaging, temperature, and sanitation.
  6. Taking corrective actions as needed.
  7. Handling inquiries: answering phones and addressing questions or concerns when supervisors are not present.
  8. Safety and maintenance: reporting unsafe practices, emergency situations, or performance issues, and assisting with opening and closing procedures.
  9. Monitoring needs: communicating food, equipment, supply needs, or maintenance issues to management.
  10. Training staff: educating staff on safe operation and maintenance of equipment.
  11. Improving service: assisting with system, procedure, and task analysis to enhance cafeteria service.
License / Certification Requirements

ANSI accredited Food Handler Certificate or Food Protection Manager Certification within 1 year of hire.

Compensation Range

$23.00 - $25.09 per hour
