Job Description

The Food Service Worker I is responsible for providing timely and safe food service to customers, including plating, serving foods, and stocking supplies. The role involves washing dishes, cleaning and sanitizing equipment and facilities, and maintaining all food service areas. The worker must understand the menu, service standards, and procedures, and interact effectively with internal and external customers. Adherence to NMHS’s Mission, Vision, and Values, along with Service Excellence Standards, is essential.

Basic Responsibilities
  • Ensure timely, safe food service, including plating, serving, and stocking.
  • Wash dishes, silverware, pots, pans, and racks.
  • Clean and sanitize equipment and facilities.
  • Maintain the physical area efficiently and effectively.
  • Know the menu, service standards, and procedures of their area.
  • Interact effectively with customers and staff, aiming to meet and exceed expectations.
  • Demonstrate adherence to NMHS’s Mission, Vision, Values, and Service Standards.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Assist in effective communication within the department.
  • Help meet budget goals by using food and supplies wisely.
  • Follow food safety procedures and participate in HACCP programs.
  • Maintain departmental documentation related to food safety.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (preferred).
  • Effective oral communication skills.
  • Ability to follow oral instructions.
