Overview

CentraState Medical Center has an employment opportunity available for a Food Service Worker. The Food Service Worker will be working in our main kitchen, which serves our patients and must uphold NJ Department of Health standards.

Responsibilities
  • Keeps work area and equipment clean and sanitary at all times.
  • Sets up assigned area and maintains adequate supplies during shift.
  • Presents and garnishes food in an attractive manner.
  • Prepares food and beverages for all meals as assigned, including catered events.
  • Assembles food and supplies for assigned departments and makes deliveries to units.
  • Stocks unit pantries following department-specific procedures.
  • Delivers food trucks and individual patient trays to all units as assigned.
  • Stays up-to-date with all health and safety requirements, following each of them closely.
  • Listens to customer feedback and responds to complaints in a professional manner.
  • Follows daily scheduled utility cleaning guidelines as assigned.
  • Adheres to State Sanitation codes and regulations.
  • Documents dish machine temperatures according to department policy.
  • Supports all utility positions in the kitchen, including performing porter functions and operating the dish room and pot and pan station.
  • Maintains all assigned work areas and equipment in a clean condition.
  • Sweeps, mops, and removes garbage throughout all kitchen areas.
  • Cleans kitchen equipment including slicers, ovens, fryers, skillets, hand sinks, etc.
  • Scrapes and washes all patient dishes, patient trays, and maintaining sanitary conditions for all cleaned items.
  • Sets up and breaks down assigned areas and maintains adequate supplies during shift.
  • Cleans walk-in refrigerators and freezers.
Qualifications

Education:
High School Diploma or GED preferred.

Work Experience:
Two years culinary school or training preferred.

Required Knowledge and Skills:
Basic command of English language (speaking, reading, writing) and basic math skills required to ensure correct performance of duties, understanding and following instructions, dietary restrictions, etc., for patient, resident, and employee safety.

Strong professional, organizational, and interpersonal skills to effectively relate with all members of the healthcare team and customers.

Must be able to adapt to circumstances that arise and make decisions quickly to problem-solve any issues that may develop.
