Job description

Grow your culinary skills in a scratch kitchen dedicated to quality. This position is responsible for helping in the kitchen of a health care center. Work will include, but may not be limited to, food prep, delivery and plating of food in resident dining areas, and dishes.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Food storage, pulling, transporting, labeling, dating, pre-cooking preparation including equipment usage, portioning, dishing, serving, storage, and disposal of food and food associated supplies and equipment, and washing and sanitizing of dishes and equipment.
  2. Receive, inspect and store food and beverage related products delivered to the kitchen.
  3. Train and/or mentor new or inexperienced kitchen staff in all duties of a relief cook.
  4. Follow food handling and sanitation procedures.
  5. Prepare food items such as garnishes, salads, sandwiches and beverages for snack add on food items for household kitchenettes and core area.
  6. Monitor food distribution during serving and plating of food, ensuring that residents are served appropriate portions, according to diet requirements and with attractive presentation.
  7. Provide customer service to the residents.
  8. Monitor dates, cleanliness and record temperatures of coolers, freezers, and refrigerators throughout the facility.
  9. Inventory and stock resident kitchen areas with required items.
  10. Wash and sanitize equipment, carts and work areas including countertop, floor and wall surfaces.
  11. Transportation of unprepared and prepared food, equipment, carts, and residents as required during all department operating hours.
  12. Participate and/or attend all annual in-service education, as appropriate for food service staff.
  13. Demonstrate a commitment to county safety and risk management efforts.

Education and/or Experience

Some High School, and zero to six months of relevant prior experience. Basic knowledge of food safety required.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations and Other Special Requirements

ServSafe Food Safety & Sanitation license. If not held at time of hire, candidate will be required to obtain within 6 months of hire.

Criminal background check free of convictions of abuse of individuals or misappropriation of property while in a formal caretaking setting.
