Chartwells School Dining Services K12 is hiring immediately for part‑time FOOD SERVICE WORKER/CASHIER positions at Elk Rapids Schools, MI, on a school‑schedule with variable hours. Pay range $16.50–$17.00 per hour. Uniforms are provided, and a flexible schedule supports parents of students.

Qualifications

• Prior food service or kitchen experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform prep work such as washing, peeling, cutting, and seeding fruits and vegetables; weigh and measure ingredients.
• Carry pans, kettles, and trays between stations, stove, and refrigerator following safety standards; distribute supplies, utensils, and portable equipment.
• Store foods according to wrapping, dating, and food‑safety rotation procedures.
• Clean work areas, equipment, and utensils.
• Ensure compliance with sanitation and safety requirements.
• Use approved recipes and production standards to maintain quality, serving temperature, and portion control.
• Serve customers efficiently and courteously following service steps.
• Interact with customers and resolve complaints in a friendly, service‑oriented manner.
• Relay relevant information to supervisors.
• Perform sales transactions and enter sales into the cash register.
• Handle cash, make change, accept declining balance cards, and issue receipts.
• Follow procedures for issuing cash refunds.
• Manage change funds and cash drawer to meet overage/shortage standards.
• Replenish condiments, beverages, and supplies while maintaining cleanliness of service area.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
