About This Position

• Must be available for some weekends and holidays*

Full-time 4am to 12pm

Some 11am to 7pm shifts may be required as well

The Food Service Supervisor is responsible for supervising inmate labor and team members assisting with the food service operation in a correctional facility. This role involves accurately and efficiently preparing and serving a variety of food items according to work instructions and menus, utilizing various food preparation utensils and machines.

Core Responsibilities

• Supervise inmate labor and/or team members during food prep and service shifts.
• Assist or instruct in the preparation of quality foods per menu, recipes, and instructions.
• Ensure proper and sanitary food storage.
• Serve food during scheduled meal times following policies.
• Use kitchen utensils/equipment to cook, prepare, and serve food as per recipes, ensuring proper portioning and nutritional standards.
• Follow all food safety regulations.
• Train other food service workers.
• Maintain cleanliness of work areas and equipment.
• Follow uniform policies.
• Manage garbage and keep kitchen floors clean.
• Ensure the kitchen environment is ready for food prep and service.
• Review proper portioning and utensil use for service.
• Promote a healthy and safe work environment.
• This role involves physical activities such as lifting, bending, pushing, kneeling, walking, and standing for extended periods.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

• High School Diploma or Equivalent, at least 18 years old.
• Preferred: Prior institutional food service or restaurant experience.
