About This Position

This position is located in a Jail/Correctional Facility and requires working in close contact with and interacting with inmates.

The Food Service Supervisor supervises inmate labor and team members assisting with food service in a correctional facility. Responsibilities include preparing and serving a variety of food items accurately and efficiently according to work instructions and menus, using various food preparation utensils and machines.

Essential Functions/Core Responsibilities

• Supervise inmate labor and team members during food prep and service shifts.
• Prepare and instruct inmate labor and team members in food preparation according to menus and recipes.
• Ensure proper storage and sanitation of food.
• Serve food according to schedules and policies.
• Use kitchen utensils/equipment following recipes and nutritional guidelines.
• Follow food safety regulations.
• Train other food service workers.
• Maintain cleanliness of work areas and equipment.
• Follow uniform and safety policies.
• Manage waste and keep the kitchen environment clean and ready for food prep and service.
• Review portions and utensils for service.
• Promote a safe and healthy work environment.
• This role involves physical activity such as lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

What You'll Need

• High School Diploma or Equivalent, and at least 18 years old.
• Preferred: Prior institutional food service or restaurant experience.
