POSITION PURPOSE

This Food Service Worker 1 position is responsible for supporting the Don James Center Training Table with dishwashing, dining room upkeep, and food preparation to support a high-quality dining experience for UW athletes. Providing nutrition to power performance, this position plays an important role in supporting nutritionally optimal meals for athletes and coaches.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain the sanitation, order and appearance of the dish and wash rooms using sanitizing solutions as needed and in compliance with Washington State health code regulations.
  • Perform basic preparation including, paring fruits and vegetables, reheating refrigerated or frozen soups, assembling sandwiches and salads, toasting bread, preparing hot and cold beverages and/or packaging grab and go items.
  • Set up the workstation and/or display counters for preparation and service, based on production sheets and established plans.
  • Restock and rotate station according to established plans, par levels and food handling policies and procedures.
  • Wash dishes, pots, pans, wares, trays and aprons.
  • Clean sinks and insure that there are adequate paper towels and soap available.
  • Wash and dry uniforms, aprons and other items.
  • Clean or wash caddies and carts.
  • Continuously clean and maintain order of workstation and prep areas, including sweeping and mopping.
  • Bus and clean tables and chairs in the dining areas.
  • Monitor, address and/or report safety issues to management as appropriate.
  • Monitor and maintain temperature logs for the dish room equipment.
  • Report equipment malfunctions to the management.
  • May assist in the direction of student or hourly staff.
  • May be assigned to perform other duties within their classification as a Food Service Worker 1.

    POSITION DIMENSIONS

    The position is an eleven-point-five-month cyclic position that works January through mid-December. While staff are hired into specific positions, they may be reassigned to a different unit or schedule with two weeks of notice.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Possession of, or eligible to obtain a Washington State Food Worker Card within two weeks of employment.

    CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

  • A satisfactory outcome from the employment verification and reference check processes.
  • Maintenance of a valid Washington State Food Worker Card.
