Job summary

Sentara Health in Virginia Beach is hiring a Food Service Worker- Starter for full-time day shifts, 12-hour rotations, and occasional weekends. The Starter will support the patient tray line, initiate each patient tray, coordinate with the Server and Dining Associates, and help deliver meals to nursing units.

The role includes dishroom support, maintaining tray-line supplies, and prior food service experience is highly preferred.

• Ability to work in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Work Shift Rotating Overview: Sentara Health is seeking to hire a qualified individual to join our team as a Food Service Worker- Starter.

Position Status: Full Time, Days, 12-hour shifts, half-day Fridays, and every-other-weekend coverage

Position Location: Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital $1,000 Sign on Bonus for qualified candidate! We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, and benefits!

Primary responsibility is supporting the patient tray line and ensuring the meal assembly process runs efficiently. The Starter must maintain a consistent and efficient pace throughout meal service to keep up with the Server and ensure trays are completed and delivered within established delivery times for the nursing units. The tray line operates as an assembly-style process. The Starter initiates each patient tray and receives the appropriate plate from the Server before passing the tray to the Dining Associates. The Dining Associates then complete the tray and place it in their carts for delivery.

In addition to tray line responsibilities, the Starter will support the dishroom throughout the day. This includes breaking down patient trays returned by the Dining Associates and preparing them for the Utility team to wash.

The Starter will also be responsible for maintaining adequate supplies at the tray line to support meal service, including drinks, chips, condiment cups, napkins, and other necessary items.

Experience. Previous experience working in food services is highly preferred.
