Job summary

White Plains Hospital Medical Center is seeking a food service staff member to assemble patient trays, deliver meals, and ensure adherence to safety and quality standards. You will work varied days and hours, and report in uniform with appropriate badge.

Responsibilities include following HACCP guidelines, coordinating with nursing staff and clinical dietitians, and completing annual competency requirements. Excellent customer service and communication abilities are essential in this role.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Less than 1 year of experience in a similar role.
• Excellent customer service skills (high proficiency).

• Ability to multi-task (medium proficiency).

Responsibilities

• Adheres to hospital policies and department standards.
• Punches in/out according to the assigned work schedule.
• Prepare and service trays and assist with patient meal delivery.

• Attend staff meetings and complete required training and competency assessments.

Essential Functions

• Adheres to WPH Performance Standards, Policies and Behaviors


• Punches in/out as required based on assigned work schedule.


• Reports to work area ready to work in uniform, appropriate shoes, and visible identification badge according to policy.


• Demonstrates/articulates an understanding of responsibilities of the assigned positions.


• Verbalizes and applies knowledge of current department policies and procedures.


• Attends staff meeting, in-service or equivalent to update knowledge related to current department/hospital issues as required or requested.


• Responsible for completing annual department/hospital competency and educational requirements.


• Assembles trays according to patient menu on tray ticket and retrieves trays from patients’ rooms.


• Follows Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HAACP) guidelines when handling food and when cleaning workstations and breaking down patient tray line.


• Follows facility and department infection control policies and procedures.


• Communicates with nursing departments, clinical dietitians, and other personnel to provide excellent patient services.


• Performs all other related duties as assigned.
