Job summary

Columbia Dining Services is seeking a Food Service Worker to join the team at Teacher's College. The role involves general food service tasks, preparation of food, and sanitation duties within a dynamic, customer-focused environment.

Reporting to Operations leadership, you will produce daily menu items, handle orders, manage supplies, maintain cleanliness, and ensure safety standards are met per NYC DOH guidelines. Regular 40-hour weeks based on fall semester needs.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or its equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Performs general food service work involving varied counter service tasks, preparation of food and sanitation duties.
  • Produces and serves the menu of the day as assigned.
  • Prepares and bakes a variety of oven-ready bread/bakery items according to the manufacturer’s directions and standards.
  • Orders, receives and stores necessary food supplies, and maintains related records.
  • Cleans, prepares, and maintains order in the areas as assigned by the manager, and equipment used on the job.
  • Uses and maintains tools and equipment in a proper manner, including but not limited to steamtables, coffee brewing equipment, fountain machines, and food display cases.
  • Sweeps and mops floors, removes trash.
  • Cleans and maintains areas such as, but not limited to, kitchens, dining rooms, and basements.
  • Washes dishes, pots and pans.
  • Receives customer orders, customer payments, and service tables as required.
  • Deliver food, beverage and related supplies to catered event buildings before scheduled event start time.
  • Deliver and set up drop-off events before scheduled event start time.
  • Pick up completed events and return food and equipment to proper area.
  • Observes safety standards and practices.
  • Follows NYC DOH standards.
  • Performs related duties as required
